STRATEGIC PLAN

The Chaffee Housing Authority (CHA) is an independent public organization, formed in October 2020 through a joint agreement between Chaffee County, the City of Salida, and the Town of Buena Vista. The CHA’s work focuses solely on increasing affordable housing across the county.

 

This Strategic Plan 2022-2026 – the organization’s first – was developed by the staff and inaugural board in the midst of an unprecedented housing crisis affecting Chaffee County, which has been complicated and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. These dual threats have made this plan more urgent, even as the stakes have grown higher for those struggling to afford to live in the county.

 

This strategic roadmap serves as a guide for the organization’s next five years of operations. It was directly informed by community input, including most recently a CHA survey that gathered feedback from nearly 300 housing-burdened residents. It is also intended to reflect the priorities of, and collaborations with, local government, community groups, and business leaders, all of whom are also working to ensure that local workers and families – those most affected by the shortage of affordable, safe housing in our community – have a place to call home.
